Personas

We need to understand the motivations, expectations and goals of elderly people. Jag has arranged a meeting with elderly people at a local community centre. We will use this opportunity to ask questions to obtain a real user perspective insight. However this may only be the one time we can talk to an elderly person regarding our project.

Therefore it is necessary for us to create Personas of an elderly person. Personas are used to bring the person to life, giving them names, personalities and a photo. The personas will be fictitious but will be based on real user knowledge. Many of us have elder relatives and know from experience their interests and habits. It is therefore important to write a persona based on unbiased research rather than the opinion of the person writing the personas.

These were the links we have used in our group meetings to understand the concept of personas:

Thinking creatively

There are several techniques that can aid in creative thinking. We will be use the brainstorming approach to think of possible ideas.

Brainstorming:
  • A collection of several ideas and concepts
  • No one is criticised
  • Different minds think together creatively
  • Discussions and further elaboration on ideas
As our blog progresses you will see photos of brainstorming sessions on the whiteboard
